The contents of Maiolica albarello/drug/pharmacy jars were originally kept closed by use of a piece of parchment tied on with a cord. Any ideas for good substitutions for parchment?

if you take linen and paint it with melted beeswax it works GREAT. we use it in camp all the time. warm it up a bit over the fire or in the sun and it works like reusable saran wrap :). would work great over a jar.

dont paint it too thick or it will crack :)

is this something you're thinking of selling? (she says hopefully....)

That's a great idea, and I will try it. Thank you.

I'm experimenting with maiolica painting, I may end up liking them better than underglazes. I'm making some of varied jars. Yes the plan is to sell or barter them as soon as they satisfy me.
