Never being one to leave well enough alone, after numerous attempts with the Iszuzu, I shoveled for awhile and got the Subaru out of the spot it was in and down my road to the highway. All was well, if a terrible drive. But then coming back I had to turn it around a bit to back it into its parking space or I would have had to back it 1/8 mi. through deep snow to get to the highway tomorrow.
So I got stuck, sideways in the road of course.

I have spent most of this afternoon shoveling snow to no avail. I finally phoned AAA who after a tantalizing promise said they couldn't help me get it out because my road hasn't been plowed.
I phoned [livejournal.com profile] dancing_guru"s friends to see if they want to help me push it. They generously, generously offered to come when they can although they are going to have to walk a ways or their car will be also SOL in the snow.
The Iszuzu could have made it, but the battery is not working AGAIN. I've had it in 2 different mechanic shops to take care of the problem about 4-5 times now.

No one has to hint to me to move now, I am fully in favor of it.

SINCE THAT TIME
*gasp wheeze*
another concerted ammount of time of shoveling with the help of [livejournal.com profile] dancing_guru's friends and it's out of the PITA snow. Plenty of exercise that.
I think my calorie intake deserves to include Baileys in hot chocolate this pm.

Want me to get you in touch with the certification department here at the ESD, so you can see what kind of requirements are necessary to teach in Washington?

That might help thanks. I'd have to get a masters, so it wouldn't be soon. I even asked the people who helped me shovel if they wanted to buy a house. At that point it would have gone for $200. ;-)

Maybe not...you might get pretty far with some SPED quals. Talk to Miranda.

Oh, and I think you deserve TWO cocoa with Baileys. It's cold over there!

I have lots of SPED experience, but not a SPED certificate.
I also really like working with extremely "at risk" students if the administration is good & that's a certainly a growing area.

You should definitely talk to her - she's up on all the teaching requirements for the state and whatnot. I don't know if she's got a Master's or not, but I want to say that it's not *required* for teaching in Washington - you just need a certificate. But I could be making that up.

I know that Seattle Pacific University offers regular qualifications courses over the summer. Seattle University might, too. And Tuireann just did a bunch of stuff at City University, although I *do* think that was an MiT.

At any rate, you know we'll all fall all over ourselves to help make this possible for you. :)

I appreciate the support. My DIL is getting her MAT online, it's still a buncha work she says.
I don't see any movement happening rapidly at any rate, it will definately take a while.

I talked to our Certification Specialist, you don't necessary have to have a masters, but she can give you more information. She (other Certification Specialist across the state) will give you the straight scoop on what it takes to teach in Washington. There are so many different ways to do it. So if you are really interested, contact her. It can't hurt to ask:

Ok, thanks :-)

This entire process will probably take awhile.

That is a ginormous PITA, indeed.

Stupid AAA.

What is the Inuit word for PITA snow

Some possibilities

maxtla: snow that hides the whole village
tlayopi: snow drifts you fall into and die
chachat: swirling snow that drives you nuts
krotla: snow that blinds you
mortla: snow mounded on dead bodies

Not certain these are all real Inuit words, but I found them on a web-site of Inuit snow words...

I'm thinking "tlaychat"
Snow drifts that you fall into and drives you nuts.
