So here I sit in front of the computer.

I should be thinking mostly about the Praxis test I have to take tomorrow, it's a content knowledge test, it should be over material I know, but I as an Ox and prefer being over-prepared.

However, I am primarily concerned with the Palouse Studio Potters Guild Show at Cowgirl Chocolates with the reception tomorrow. We can't bring many items, so I am arguing with myself over what I want to bring. I always want to bring the most recent things that came out of the kiln, although older work might be better sellers....I don't know, if I did know I would be a much wealthier person.

Finally got to unload the kiln today. Some worked out well, others not so much. The glaze experiments didn't go as nicely as I had hoped they would, the kiln fired at least a cone hotter, possibly more, because I programed a very slow cool-down, the temperature rise is counter-intuitive, but there you go.

These pitchers are inspired by Medieval balluster shapes, but the glazes and surface decoration are distinctly contemporary. I heart the balluster shape.

This bowl holds about 2 qts.

The hot spots are my photography, but then I don't pay myself well ;-)
I am pleased with this platter and plan to do more in this style.

Those are beautiful! I love the colors of that glaze.

Are we still on for the amphorea?

Another floppy eared icon, what a sweetie.

Thanks, the purples are amazing. I'm changing the name of one of them to 'huckleberry' because it's the color of the local huckleberries.

If I didn't write you back about the amphorea, I apologize!!! I thought I did. Yes! I am looking forward to doing them.

Thank you :-)

It is so nice to have LJ, for so many years I would unload the kiln and not be able to show what came out until a show or the customer who ordered them picked them up. It felt like something was missing on some level. No more!! :-)

It's such an amazing means to share your work isn't it? And a great way to check theories too. I LOVE that element of LJ.

Yes indeed.
And I love the discussions on philosophy of various subjects. At events there is so much going on what with running here and there I almost never get in on good BS sessions.

There is only time for drive-by love and chats at events.

LJ lets me really feel connected which means SO much to me being so far away!

Thank you.
I keep thinking about working with more simple design and subtle colors. But I keep coming back to the bolder ones.

After your trip to see your daughter and friends, can you ship me some images? And, maybe during break, for I know how busy you are, you can create your bios for the site?

I can fix, to a certain extent, most of the hot spots, assuming there's a color nearby that I can steal from that matches.

Whatever happened with the lot you took back to that photographer?

This batch is purpleiscous!

I thought the photographers didn't contact me back after I wrote them a complaint and I was pretty angry. But my message machine since then indicated somehow their reply got lost in the ether. I've been so busy I haven't gotten back to them *yet again* because I can't do personal business during work hours and they are only open during my work hours. So I haven't taken the next step.

I will try to get stuff to you soon. Daughter said she would take some photos of me, she is a brave person ;-) because she knows how self-conscious I am about such things ;-)

Hell, they're all gorgeous, but I like the bowl best. :)

I really like the shapes and the way the handle joins to the taller of the two jugs; and I like the shade of the plum-coloured glaze.

Thanks. One of the things I try to do is pay attention to the physical balance of the pot when it is being held as well as the visual balance.
