Strange fabric (was Awful Fabric)

This is the oddest fabric:

I found it at (blush) Wall Mart, it is a print, cotton blend copy of 15th Century Persian brocade and its details not worthy to stand in the shadow of it's inspiration.
The actual color is a blacker background than shows on my monitor at least.
Yes, I bought it, all that was on the bolt, it was cheap (duh), the clerk made a snide remark. I have no idea what to do with it.
One of those strange SCA obsessions we get I suppose.

I think it's pretty. Quilt? Pillow? Drapes? Lots of stuff that could be done with it.

It's very interesting stuff. I wonder if the designer used other persian brocades for print fabric? I'm going to keep my eyes open for them.

Pillows and drapes for your pavillion or sunshade.

I like the idea of drapes for the sunshade, it will fade quickly though.

Use them as inner drapes. Make your outer walls from canvas or duck and then make pretty drapes for the inside.

Compared to the beauty of Persian fabric this cotton print is...not quite there ;-)
But I really like it on some strange level and consider it one of those 'finds'.

It makes sense that different Persian designs would have been copied & made (but how often do things make sense?). Time to start haunting cheap fabric outlets & see if we can get more.

Well, I don't know, I think it's great. I think I'll wonder up to our local Wally World and see if we have any. I'm starting a new Venetian Coat. Maybe it will be my lining???

It looks better from a distance than it does up close. None the less I like it. Let me know if you find any similar to it please.
