I am not a cavewoman, but I try
Apr. 30th, 2010 07:10 pmI have served as officer for several organizations over the past years. Why do I never volunteer for treasurer/exchequer? I thought I had over 30 mugs with cave images on them and there were 8. The rest of the kiln was full so they weren't spirited away by the studio centaurs, it was my math.

About 5" tall

Same mug as the first, just another side.

The cup above is with underglaze rather than on maiolica. The good thing about underglaze is that there is a greater range of temperature available. With the maiolica recipe I use, it is cone 6 or nothing.

I love the curve of so many of the horses' bellies.

Thinking of adding gray stain to the maiolica base to get it more "cavey" as another experiment

Date: 2010-05-02 02:11 pm (UTC)horses are a cool motif....there's a visceral response in you (well, me ;)), plus they MOVE. their whole bodies it seems are crafted in such a way that they evoke movement in so many cool ways even when they're represented in a static way :)
