Jan. 1st, 2007 05:05 pmI didn't go to a party last night, C&C are still here and they did my share of partying as well as their portion. Chicken soup tonight.
But I had a marvelous 2 days. I finished with the Wendt porcelain until I see how my glazes fit it, and switched to red stoneware & made SCA cooking pots. (Oules? Marmites?) It was so enjoyable, the clay was so magic.
I am also re-reading a book that I find thought-provoking "Art and Fear: Observations on the Perils (and Rewards) of Artmaking" by David Bayles & Ted Orland. It talks about why art gets made and why it doesn't get made, and why so many artists give up. Lots of great quotes among their ideas. For instance: "The function of the overwhelming majority of your artwork is simply to teach you how to make the small fraction that soars."
