My Modern Pottery Guild will be holding our annual Empty Bowls event http://www.emptybowls.net/EmptyBowlsProject.htm April 18th, 2009.
We need more bowls than our smallish guild is able to produce, so anyone out there who does pottery or paints on bisqueware, we would love to have your pots for this charity.

All of the proceeds go to hunger organizations, 50% to a local food bank and 50% to Oxfam. We even got the hall and the soup donated this year. What we need most are more bowls.

Simply glazed bowls are always very popular and go fast, but if your interest is more in scribal arts here are some ideas.....

This bowl was painted in underglaze by Dame Tam on a bisque pot I threw last year at Iron & Ink & donated by Tam for this year:

(not a great photo, the brown is actually more brown than it appears here.)

This bowl was underglaze painted by Tomyris on a bowl I made and was sold at last year's Empty Bowls:

As you can guess, a project like this is way fun.

OMG those are gorgeous! I'm interested in doing majolica, or majolica-style, but I'm not there yet. Is this something that comes around yearly?

Also, I tend to buy pottery locally to help out local artisans and often keep a small stash of essentially personal largess. If you'd like I could donate a set or two of that which are usually small bowls with a cup, both thrown. Let me know and I'll see what I've got.

Will you be at A&S?

I wish we had more maiolica work. The lady in our guild who did maiolica is no longer active.
We would love to have the handmade bowls, although we aren't soliciting cups.
Yes, I'll be at KA&S.

I pulled out the sets last night, but fogot to pack them- and I'll be up north tonight after the research conference so I won't be home again until Sunday. Perhaps I could just pop it into the mail?

That would be great.
Do you have experience shipping fragile items? I can give you some pointers if you would like them.
