She is released

Mom died last night. A relief, she was 93 became senile about 15 years ago and had been slowly deteriorating until these past 5 months she slept most of the day and essentially quit eating a few weeks ago. Her elderly years were lived the way none of us would like to spend our final years.
A wild bird perched on my bedroom window this morning, I've never seen one do that before and it made me feel better. I like wild birds very much.

Thank you Dear Anne Marie,
It has been a tough haul.

I understand. My mother only hung on for six months after her major stroke a few years ago. I don't know how I would have handled it if she had held on for 15 years.

My best to you.

You have my sympathy for your Mom too, and if I know you it would have hurt, but you would have done what you needed to and with grace, you are a strong lady.

Hugs from both of us.

It can be such a mixture of sadness and relief, I watched my father deteriorate over 7 years.

Wishing you and your sister to keep only the happy memories of your time together.

That's a nice thing to say, thank you Ellen & Ralg. Seeing the people you love deteriorate, well I don't know what to say exactly. But among other things it makes us aware of how human we are and how life changes.

Hug back to you too.
