Augusty subjects

Lots of smoke in the air today the sky isn‘t visible and the surrounding hills are almost visually obliterated. The wind is blowing from the West. Forest fires, field fires or a combination I suppose. A little fire smells great, this is getting overwhelming though, kaf, kaf. On one side of my place the farmer plowed a fire line around the field after he harvested, but on another side they let the field grow fallow, and thus remains ignored, dried, and weedy. I’m not really all that worried though, I haven’t heard nor seen the rural fire trucks nor the typical warnings.

I threw with red clay and used all that I had up. Did some glazing, some trimming, made another cloche, a couple of pipkins, a table braiser and a few miscellaneous Byzantine style mugs. I could finish the day with the white body, but I want to continue with red. I use red for pots that I don’t completely glaze because it’s such a handsome color when fired. A couple of my Modern Guild friends make pizza/baking stones out of unglazed white and their things look very nice indeed. But am set on the red.

I am trying to decide if I want to drive to Spokane Saturday to pick some up and if I do decide to do I have to take the gas guzzler that is a tougher rig for hauling?

There are only a few days until my school session starts again and I want to spend all my time in the studio or here at the house enjoying the….whatever it is I am enjoying.

do you have a "studio" at your house? garage, shop, outbuilding? *covet*

Hi there,
sorry I was so late replying. I had some serious viruii and had to take the computer to the shop to have them removed.
Yeah, I have a nice little studio about 50 feet from my house. It looks out to the South on a field with the neighbor's horses, & a pretty hill. The studio itself is 6 sided, could be bigger, but could there possibly be one big enough? It could use painting, but in the spring it has shrubs, etc all around it so it looks very nice then. (I won't mention the west side with the neighbor's junker cars, 28 my kids counted once).
You really should come out to visit & see for yourself :-)
