Mexican photos
Jul. 2nd, 2009 11:23 amSome pictures from Mexico:

This is the restaurant that had tasty food, but where I picked up "la turista". With the exception of pretty Jenny, this was the least attractive section. The hanging blue things are worn-out tarps. The cans & jugs were old paint, used motor oil, other petroleum products.
Jenny's bright green drink tasted exactly like a jolly rancher, I had the most amazing mocha slushy-type thing ever, Deva had a Corona (boring).

Here is another view of the same restaurant and the greenery everywhere is typical of all places we went. I particularly enjoy the adobe walls.

The round pyramid at Teuchilan built by the Caxcane peoples. The other rocks originally had temples built on them circling the pyramid. HES said this was the only ancient site they had been to that hadn't been crazy crowded with tourists. I was able to sit and enjoy it while the kids hiked all over the site. We planned to stay longer but the taxi driver came back to get us earlier than we asked him to because he thought it was so uninteresting we would get tired of looking at it sooner than we arranged.

Another view from the pyramid site. The landscape reminded me of South Western Washington at its best. It was the rainy season in Jalisco or it wouldn't have been so green. Plants were popping up as fast as they could. Little lizards were dashing everywhere. The main local crop is agave (tequila plant) which looks like an aloe vera.

The entrance to Deva & Jen's casa. The tree is a lime and is very productive.

DIL & HES in front of their casa. There is another small courtyard that opens up from their kitchen, and while it is pleasant to sit in, there are the gas tanks and a huge black widow spider (that I was not in favor of but the kids thought we should just let her be.)
I'll post some Mexican pottery pics later.
