My Dear Canadian friends,
There is also a Canadian Empty Bowls project! http://www.emptybowls.ca/home.html
Two potters from Canada were in town and came to our Empty Bowls and sent us their home page. Even more places to get involved.
Makes me happy :-)

this is so cool. I wonder why we don't have one of these events here in the Bay Area (CA). We have lots of potters.

You know, I'll bet there are some. The problem may be getting the word out other than to a small circle. We had a heck of a time trying to get our local newspapers & radio stations to cover it and NOTHING happens here newsworthy. (Rabbit sighted near local garden ;-))

The U.S. Empty Bowls website has been "under construction" for a couple of years. I occasionally hear about an Empty Bowls project on the modern potter's email. I should post there and ask people to be sure to post it when they have one.

There is a famous Empty Bowls in Atenvelt. Duke Aaron who is regularly King there has one with his high school art students about every year right after Estrella. A number of people such as the fabulous [livejournal.com profile] doll_paparazzi of Caid send pottery bowls to him at Estrella.

I think Empty Bowls are more common than is obvious. It's a possibility that paying for the publicity takes an unreasonably big chunk out of the donation. So it stays smaller than it should.
