One of the worst days driving to work I've had in years. No trace of a road grader for the 50 miles I travel. No vision for the several seconds oncoming traffic billows up snow when they pass, drifting. This brings up a painful and terrible realization, I am going to have to get up 20 minutes earlier or be late to work every day.

Lewiston usually doesn't get snow so the whole town was flummoxed. Over 78 cars involved in 30 in wrecks in town (and not a large town). No snow tires, no weights in the back of pickups, stomping on brakes, stomping on accelerator, etc.
I have to say again, the subaru rocks, there was never a time I was endangered from it.... just from large vehicles coming towards me sideways. I'm trying not to be smug about my car & winter road preperations. Humm not working, I'm smug.

The biggest problem people with all-wheel drive cars get into, is they get overconfident that their car can get them out of.

Happened to me years (and years) ago.

Yes, I know what you mean, I remind myself constantly while driving under such conditions.

Ouch! Curse the Grade! Still, I join you in your smugness. My 'Ru also rocks. The darker side of my nature keeps laughing at the Unprepared/Inexperienced as they slide off the roads of Olympia. Oddly, the folks getting around well mostly seem to have WSU Alumni stickers on their cars. Oh yes...I'm smug.

No Longer smug

The trouble I have with smug is that it always comes back to bite me in the but. For instance now all my water pipes are frozen although I let them drip through the night. :-( This has happened several times in the past few years during 12th Night time.
I will only be able to attend 12th Night when global warming really kicks in. (dark humor)

Unthawed at last, had to call in a plumber.
I had a new pump put in this fall, and I'm apparently not familiar with its idiosynricies yet, that's where the problem lay.
